The event had previously been planned for 22 April but Peter and Ursula took the decision to postpone it as the weather at the time was not so good and they were concerned that they would not get the turnout that they wanted. This proved to be a good decision as the turnout on the day exceeded all expectations at 150, and many others who could not make it sent donations. There were twelve prizes in total: five main prize, five ladies prizes, and two prizes for best nines. The ladies featured very strongly in the prizes, taking 2nd and 3rd places in the main prizes. The prizes were presented by the club captain, Danny Ball, on the right in the photos, and Ursula and Peter, on the left. First prize was won by Colin Wilson with a score of 41 points:
Second prize went to Patricia Devine with a score of 40 points, beating Joyce Perkins on the back nine:
The guy on the left in the background can't face that pint! Maybe he's had a few already.

The third lady was Sandra Armstrong with a score 36 points:
Fourth lady was Emma Harris with 34 points:
Fifth lady with Vida Given with 33 points. She was unable to attend the prizegiving. The prize for the best first nine went to Eugene McLaughlin with 24 points (no photo as he was the photographer) and the best second nine went to Mervyn Porter with 21 points (not present for prizegiving). Here's a group shot of most of the prizewinners:
Pat McLaughlin took the photos and as he was also a prizewinner (best first nine) he swapped places with Colin Wilson for a shot:
Well done and thanks to everyone who participated. Also special thanks again to Gibson Primary School in Omagh who donated ₤500.

Ciaran Harron (brother of BackBeat member Damien Harron) is a resident of Indonesia and he and his wife Novi are organising an increasingly successful aid effort for the victims of the tsunami in Northern Sumatra . They are in constant touch with the Indonesian Red Cross so that they spend your money on exactly what is needed as a priority.
He has already raised £8000.00 and made one trip to Aceh from Jakarta with a lorry of supplies. He now plans amongst other things to organise the building of communal showers and toilets in order to help decrease the risks of disease for refugees there.
